In a preview of one of the most anticipated basketball match-ups in the upcoming Rio Olympics, the USA Men’s Basketball Team played the China National Team in a friendly invitational Sunday night. Team USA definitely dropped the bomb on China, beating them 106-57 in front of a packed crowd at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles.
The Team USA basketball squad, which is composed primarily of NBA players and staff, led as much as 54 points, thanks to a strong game by Kevin Durant, who led all scorers with 19 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Joining him in the scoreboard was fellow Warriors teammate, Klay Thompson, who scored 17 points on 10 shots.

DeAndre Jordan contributed twelve points and an air-ball during a free-throw attempt late in the fourth quarter, which led to the Team USA bench making a play for the floor, from laughter. Jimmy Butler wasn’t short on words suggesting to “wipe your hands before your free throws” to the big-man.
China, meanwhile, saw its biggest contribution from former NBA player Yi Jianlian who scored 18 points on 4-of-14 shooting. Teammate Zhao Jiwei put in 14 points on 10 shots.

The victory comes after toppling FIBA World number four, Argentina, in a game that saw current and former NBA players Ginobli, Scola, Nocioni and Delfino go against KD and the rest of Team USA. With a 111-74 victory, it is becoming more apparent that Team USA will roll to gold again in Rio 2016.
The USA Men’s Basketball Team will be playing China again on Tuesday at Oracle Arena in Oakland. This will be followed by two more games, pitting them against Venezuela on Friday and Nigeria next Monday, before flying off to Rio for the Olympic Games.
