Looks like the UFC welterweight division has gotten more exciting as Georges St-Pierre has stated his interest to fight newly crowned champion Tyron Woodley, who has reciprocated the intention for them to meet at UFC 205.
Woodley claimed the title after scoring a huge upset against Robbie Lawler after connecting a hard knockout punch in the first round that sent the former champ to the floor.

In the post-fight press conference, Woodley noted that he wants to give Nick Diaz a chance for a title shot. It seems that Woodley is now shifting his attention to a man who walked away from the sport three years ago and has been flirting with a comeback.
“I don’t care who the hell else wants to fight – if Georges St-Pierre answers the call and he wants to fight, we’re going to get it on,” Woodley told MMAjunkie Radio.

Woodley added that he would not be called the best fighter in the UFC if he does not fight the best fighters. He wants to fight St-Pierre not just for the paycheck but also for the glory of having beaten one of the greatest fighters in their division.
Woodley calls out St-Pierre to prove to the world that he is still the best fighter in the welterweight division and fight him at UFC 205 that will be staged at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
It is not clear though if St-Pierre is willing to take on Woodley as what Ariel Helwani of MMAFighthing.com reported. Helwani sent a text message to St-Pierre asking if he would be interested and willing to fight Woodley, to which the Canadian-born fighter replied with a simple “yes.”
Though nothing official has been booked yet for UFC 205, which will be the debut of UFC in New York after amendments were made to their laws in April. Having a Woodley vs. St-Pierre bout would surely stir curiosity from fight fans and bring a lot of pay-per-view subscription as well.
However, Woodley wants St-Pierre to undergo an anti-doping clearance since it’s been three years since he last fought inside the Octagon.

Woodley does not want fight fans to get disappointed if the UFC partner USADA finds St-Pierre using performance enhancement drug nor any banned substance coming out of retirement. Woodley does not want a UFC 200-like scenario wherein Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar were all flagged for using banned substances.
Becoming a champion was Woodley’s dream and now that it has become a reality, he wants to prove to the world that he is the best in the welterweight class. And he is not backing out from any challengers as Woodley bluntly calls out St-Pierre, who has yet to answer if he really is coming back to fight inside the Octagon.
