NBA Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins to the Lakers? Boogie hints possible future
DeMarcus Cousins has been part of many NBA rumors for the past couple of years due to the state of the Sacramento Kings organization. In a recent Q&A portion via his Twitter account, Cousins openly revealed that his favorite team growing up was the Los Angeles Lakers.
The internet exploded with that news and many wondered if the Lakers should trade for Cousins this offseason. Several media reports have indicated that Sacrament will not deal their All-Star center but they would be open to it if he fails to form any connection with new head coach Dave Joerger.

Hannah Kulik of Lakers Nation speculated that the Lakers are saving cap space this offseason for a possible blockbuster deal at the trade deadline. However, she noted that if the Kings will trade Cousins to Los Angeles, they would want two young players from their core.
Of course, the Lakers will not trade Brandon Ingram but they can likely make a deal by packaging a combination of D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle or Larry Nance Jr. The Kings already have a future frontcourt once they decide to move on from Cousins so they might want Russell, Clarkson, and Nance.
The Lakers may not let that many young players go for “Boogie” unless they know that they can sign Russell Westbrook this offseason. Nevertheless, these are just rumors at the moment that was sparked by Cousins’ comments.

On the other hand, the two-time All-Star center also praised young Laker forward Julius Randle. In an interview with the Lakers Nation during the Team USA practice, Cousins was asked what he thought of Randle and he gave him some praise.
“Oh, that’s my young fella. He actually, he’s always picking my brain. He’s always asking for advice. You know, he’s asking about spots on the floor, what’s a good shot, what’s a bad shot,” Cousins answered, as transcribed by Lake Show Life.
