NBA Rumors: Thon Maker set to become a millionaire with Milwaukee Bucks despite age issues

Despite the debate about his real age, Thon Maker is now set to become a millionaire as the Sudanese big man is set to sign his rookie contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. This despite the NBA rumors that he lied about his age before being drafted in the NBA.

Thon, who was selected 10th overall by the Bucks in the 2016 NBA Draft, will be getting the four-year contract for rookies and he will enter the new NBA season as one of the most interesting prospects in his class.

Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania confirmed the rookie deal for Thon, whose age was questioned around the league and by NBA fans but was selected in the first round by the Bucks in last June’s rookie draft.

There were NBA rumors that Maker will drop to the second round because of the age issues but Milwaukee ignore possible issues about his real age. Maker is from Wau, Sudan but is an Australian-Sudanese after his family settled down in Perth, South Australia.

Listed as a 19-year-old rookie, Maker attended the Orangeville District Secondary School in Ontario, Canada and also other schools in the United States. Maker did not play college basketball but he was eligible to enter the draft because he reportedly graduated in 2015.

Bucks officials were reportedly impressed with Maker’s performance in the NBA Summer League where he averaged 14.2 points and 9.6 rebounds in five games played.

Meanwhile, the Bucks’ second round pick, Malcolm Brogdon, will be signed on a three-year deal.

Maker can play the power forward and center for the Bucks, who already has big men Jabari Parker, Mirza Teletovic, Greg Monroe, John Henson and Miles Plumlee in their roster. Maker is most likely a project big man and won’t get much playing time for the Bucks in the new NBA season.
