A minute with Luke Christodoulou Author of the Greek Island Mysteries

A minute with Luke Christodoulou Author of the Greek Island Mysteries

Where do you live? I have the luck of living in the most beautiful town on the island, Limassol, with my wife, daughter and newborn son. Best childhood memory? Can I mention two? First would be gathering with all my friends in the neighbourhoud’s park and laughing, playing, singing, dancing, and joking until late. We were young and totally carefree. Amazing times. The other memory is that of my mother reading to me at nights. New worlds unfolded before my eyes and a passion for the written word was born. Most frequented restaurant and absolute favourite dish? What food would you really turn your nose up to? I am a huge ‘Irish pub food’ fan. Chesters, Molly Mallone’s, Drifters, Ryans… I love their entire menu. However, my favourite restaurant and dish is in Protaras. I eat gammon with shrimps from Hippocampus every time I visit Protaras. The food I dislike the most is lentils. It looks like mud and the taste does nothing for me. What did you have for breakfast? Just a cereal bar and my lovingly-prepared-by-my-wife frappe. Would you class yourself as a day or night person? What’s your idea of the perfect night/day out? Both, really. I love to write during the afternoon/evening while the night has always fascinated me. A perfect night out for me is ‘date night’ with my wife. Going to a new restaurant, trying new foods and drinks, and then somewhere nice and classy with good music. Best book ever read? Life of Pi. Incredible storytelling and motivating messages throughout. As the author said, Life is a story. For me it is a story about surviving and growing as a person through adversity. Favourite film of all time? I am a great movie fan and cannot answer this. I can’t compare categories. Best sci-fi/adventure movie? Terminator 2. Best romance? The Notebook. Best fantasy? Lord of The Rings. Best superhero? The Dark Knight. Best WWII movie? Schindler’s List. Best animation? The Lion King. Best classic? Casablanca. Favourite holiday destination? What’s your dream trip? As an author whose books, The Olympus Killer, The Church Murders and Death of a Bride, all take place on Greek Islands, I have to say that the Greek Isles are my favourite holiday destination . However, France has to be the best holiday I have taken. Not just picturesque Paris but the entire French Riviera. Nice, Cannes, St Tropez, Monaco , Eze, Biot. All heavenly beautiful and alluring. My dream trip is Tokyo. I would love to visit Japan one of these days. To live a different culture and try new experiences. What music are you listening to in the car at the moment? Now, here’s a question that hurts. My car CD player broke last week, leaving me listening to radio stations with all their adverts and crackling noises. I pretty much listen to all kinds of music. Every genre has something good to offer in my opinion. What is always in your fridge? Milk. Both, my wife and I, are great milky coffee lovers. Also, how else am I supposed to eat my Weetabix at night? Dream house: rural retreat or urban dwelling? Where would it be, what would it be like? Anywhere by the sea. I dream of a pool with a sea view. A normal house, nothing too e…
